Below are common issues we address in therapy.
Sexual Abuse/Assault (Sexual Trauma)
Sexual abuse or assault involves non-consensual sexual contact, including rape, molestation, and incest, affecting people of any age. Survivors often experience shame, fear, and guilt, which can lead to mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and chronic pain.
PTSD/C-PTSD/Trauma
PTSD is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, while Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) results from prolonged trauma, often in childhood. Both can lead to depression, substance use, chronic pain, and affect mental health, relationships, and spiritual beliefs.
Other Expertise
Depression
Depression causes deep sadness and disrupts basic functions like sleep, focus, and energy, making daily life difficult. In children and teens, it may appear as boredom, irritability, or frequent physical complaints like headaches and stomachaches.
Anxiety
Anxiety disorders are common and involve constant worries about the future. Untreated, they can worsen depression. In children and teens, anxiety often appears as headaches, stomachaches, tantrums, or school refusal.
Self-esteem
Self-esteem is how much you value yourself and feel confident. Low self-esteem, driven by negative self-beliefs and comparisons to others, can reduce happiness, affect work or school performance, and lead to depression or anxiety.
Stress
Stress is your body’s response to challenges, affecting both physical and emotional health. It can cause headaches, sleep issues, fatigue, and body pain, while mentally contributing to anxiety and depression. Emotionally, stress may lead to irritability, sadness, anger, or feeling overwhelmed.
ADHD
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting children and adults. It involves persistent inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which can disrupt work, school, and relationships. Symptoms fall into two categories: inattentive (e.g., difficulty focusing) and hyperactive-impulsive (e.g., restlessness). Treatment often includes behavioral therapy, lifestyle changes, and sometimes medication.
